For more than forty years, Pete has worked with a variety of organizations in the for-profit and non-profit industries. Pete’s experience includes operations management, sales and marketing, financial management and organizational consulting.

More recently Pete worked in the assisted living, memory care and home care industries where he worked closely with caregivers assisting seniors in their homes and in facilities.  Pete is also co-founder of Brainstorm Mind Fitness LLC, a company dedicated to educating people on how to improve their memory, keep their cognitive skills sharp and reduce their risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease as they age.

With a professional career spanning the fields of social services, industry, and finance, Jerry Barney has also been the primary caregiver for his wife, who suffers from MS, for over 15 years. In that time, he’s seen some of the franchise agency caregivers the family hires under the weight of huge financial burdens, barely getting by on low wages, and living paycheck-to-paycheck. Jerry decided he wanted to do something about it, and the HomeCare Foundation, with its mission of funding and launching worker-owned cooperatives of caregivers, is Jerry's answer to exploitation in the industry.
