With a professional career spanning the fields of social services, industry, and finance, Jerry Barney has also been the primary caregiver for his wife, who suffers from MS, for over 15 years. In that time, he’s seen some of the franchise agency caregivers the family hires under the weight of huge financial burdens, barely getting by on low wages, and living paycheck-to-paycheck. Jerry decided he wanted to do something about it, and the HomeCare Foundation, with its mission of funding and launching worker-owned cooperatives of caregivers, is Jerry's answer to exploitation in the industry.
